With the rise in people browsing the web using their mobile and tablet devices Google have recently made changes to their ranking algorithm that will significantly affect the searches performed on mobile devices. As of April 21st they have started to include “mobile friendliness” as a ranking signal, the aim being to allow users to find it easier to get relevant, high quality search results that are optimized for their devices. This means websites that haven’t optimised for mobile browsing will start slipping down the rankings for mobile searches or worst still not rank at all.
Mobile friendliness means that your website will adapt in scale to fit smaller screens and navigation of the website is compatible so that people can view all content.
SEO is the process of making your site rank on a search engine (like Google, Yahoo or Bing) for a specific keyword or phrase. This is an important process in making your website an effective sales and marketing tool.
We can help and have developed 3 approaches to building your website that we find cover most of your requirements and budget in order to address this change.
You may have spent a great deal of time, money and effort on your website and be very happy with how it looks however it may not be mobile friendly.
Understandably you will be hesitant to rebuild the website completely, which is where we can step in and with a few changes, particularly to the navigation bar, we can make your website responsive whilst retaining its overall look.
This we have found is a very cost effective route for most of our clients.
This is an ideal time to review your website and get a refreshed look and feel. The content and overall message may be fine but the content management solution you use may be in need of upgrading or is proving difficult to use.
This is where we can look at rebuilding your website using Umbraco and an existing template to refresh the whole website. Again this can be cost effective and quick to turn around as you are not starting from a blank sheet of paper.
This approach would suit your company if you’re looking to completely update your branding and website. Working with our graphic design partner we would put together ideas for how the website will look so that it fits in with your agreed marketing strategy and you get a fully responsive Umbraco driven website.
The outcome of each approach would be a mobile friendly website that you can then monitor and work with us to make sure that the changes made by Google do not penalize your website current rankings and hopefully put you ahead of your competition!
